Sami's Baptism

Sami planned this entire day out well in advance. I think it was a year ago she started planning. She new this was going to be a great day and she is like me and wants to be prepared and have everything in order. She picked out her dress in April and has been in love with it since she saw it hanging on the rack in the store. She was excited to get her pictures done but wanted a special day off of school to do it. She got an hour out of school with me to do her pictures.

The day finally came and she had so much love and support from near and far. The room was full and she was blessed.
She knew that everyone usually gets a Christmas dress or tie so she requested the colors for the clothing. She chose Black and silver. Lucky for her I found a beautiful fabric for $1.50 a yard. I did not have time to make dresses but I had time to add sleeves, belts and make a scarf. Everyone looked great. We didn't even tell our extended family the colors but they all matched too.
It was so nice that Lance, Shauna, Porter and Conner were able to fit in a quick trip. We sure enjoyed having them there and Sami now gets to say. My cousins came to my baptism. Sami sure enjoyed the reminders that Uncle Lance kept giving her leading up to her baptism day. Do whatever you want it all gets washed away tomorrow. We love the Clines. Hopefully next time we will get to see Austin and Mason.

Sami with her Uncle Chris. They have such a unique bond that started when Sami was 18 months old. She loves every part of him being in her life. She asked him to be a wittness at her baptism. He accepted and if you look closely he even matches her color choices.

KC and Sami spend a lot of time together they have many things in common and she is tough enough to handle KC being rough. KC has a lot of advice for her too. He advised her to keep her scriptures close to her and read them often. He gave a talk at her baptism and got real emotional. He loves her so much and he let it show.

It was a great day. Grandma Jex delivered a Journal shortly after the baptism and Sami spent 30 minutes writing down every detail of her day.

Thank you Linda for taking the time to come and join us for this day and the holidays. It sure made it even more special. You did an amazing job helping Jami gather her thought s for her talk. Zoe was so excited to get to lead the music with you. I hope you feel our love and appreciation.

Thank you Heather for taking pictures and getting them to us quickly. We are glad that you and Kyle got to experience this with us.

Halloween 2011

Sami was busting people all night if they didn't hand over enough candy. She wants to be like her Dad and since he is testing for the County Deputy Sheriff she chose to be a cop.

It was a good Halloween for us. We did Trunk or Treat with the church on Friday night and then went out in the neighborhood on Halloween. KC passed out Candy until his friends were ready to go out. Jami roamed the neighborhood with her friends and their Dads. Sami, Zoe and I walked around with our friends. KC and Joshlynn went with their friends and at 8:30 we were all headed home to see what sweets we got.

I never got a picture of Scott but he was a Cowboy but most people called him Sheriff. I had Ghost antlers that my neighbor/friend bought me.

6th grade Core Council

Joshlynn is running for 6th grade Core Council. She is excited for this adventure and is sure that she will be able to do a good job at keeping the students informed about the school and activities while helping to keep them all safe. She has great ideas and always has an opinion about the things going on around her. She has a good head on her shoulders even if her family makes fun of her a time or two. Good Luck Joshlynn. Voting takes place on Friday and the results will be in late that day or the following Monday Morning>

So, you’re probably wondering who to vote for to be your sixth grade Core Council leader for this school year. Well, let me help you. I’d be excellent for this position because I was a member of the student council at Benson Hill Elementary. I also played an important role in the safety of my elementary school by being on the Safety Patrol. I’ll be the best leader I can be by coming to all the meetings, and I’ll come to all the dances, assemblies, and all the other important events.

I, if elected, will not forget the purpose at hand, be a good leader. I will help all of us make it through these days of sixth grade.

Please don’t forget, I’ll be a great leader for this year, so vote for me, Joshlynn Knight.

Labor Day Weekend

Chris Jex's Uncle Dave invited us to camp on his property. He sure did have a fun place and some cool things to see nearby. We loaded up just after the kids got home from school and headed to carpool with the Jex Crew.

Water Fall was beautiful and the water was so cold. KC did make his way over the rocks to the swimming area and swam from the rocks to water fall. It was all in the shade and mid morning so it was very cold but he did it.
We had to get a group pic in front of the white fence of course.
Jami wanted to help so bad at putting something away. She is so fragile and most of this is hard for her but Scott found a job for her and it made her happy.

Uncle Dave kept the kids busy. He took them for tractor rides to help pull up logs for his next projects. He also gave them rides in the bucket on his tractor. He pulled out a quad and took the kids for rides around his property. He then turned it over to the big kids so they can take their wife for a ride (I loved it. I wanted to drive but it was night and I can't see very well at night).
Uncle Dave also took us to see his boat. He built a sailboat in his backyard years ago. It is an 80 foot boat. It is huge. After looking at his boat we joined a Labor Day party at the Marina he stores his boat. It was a fun and relaxing day.
It was a fun trip and a little different from our normal camping.

Christmas Cards that I made for the kids and then they got packed or put aside and I found them 3 days after Christmas. they have a Hershey bar inside.

Recently I taught the girls at Activity Days to do fancy napkin folds. Joshlynn and Jami folded our napkins for our Christmas Dinner.

Then they set the table for a fabulous meal put on by Scott.

Jami got a set of Stamps and she has started making cards right away for her friends. This will keep her and Eden busy when they have playdates and sleepovers.

Nette got a new cake pan so we made a 11 cake to bring in the year 2011.

Sami got a lot pf baking things for Christmas so she used her stuff to make the cake mixes.

Hello friends and family that try to follow us. We are alive and doing well. School with KC has gotten most of my time right now. It is a good thing and has taught me how to take things slowly and to do just the things that need to get done. Today I am sitting at the library while KC meets with other kids in this program. They are getting a lesson on comparing and contrasting and writing an essay about it all.

Here is an update on all of us.

Scott has gotten all of his licensing done and insured and bonded to do screens here. It is going well but we are in the off season for screens so it will be slow right now. He is still doing some work for Jex Chiropractic and has enjoyed learning and being able to help others live a better healthier life. He is working with the Scouts and has been helping his group of boys build a hovercraft. The talk from everyone involved is great and we all can't wait to see the finished project.

I am thrilled about helping KC and have practiced patience a bit more than usual. We are both learning and growing from this. Sunshine Generation is a small group but we have fun. Our Christmas show is coming up and it is going to be so much fun. I am on the Parent board at Zoe's school and it has been interesting and demanding but I have met great people along the way. My callings in church are great. I am Activity Day leader and mostly work with the girls that are 10 and 11. I also teach valiant 8 on Sunday. Next year that will be Jami's class. Sorry I can't take pictures of myself.

KC is doing great. Not much is new with him. He enjoys playing the flute but doesn't like that we ask him to practice over and over until we hear it right. He is doing well in Scouts working on first class. I think that is what he is working on. I still don't understand it but I know he has his goals set and he is trying. He is excited about receiving the priesthood soon. Sundays he spends reading about it or sleeping. He is getting tall and is almost eye to eye with me. YIKES!!!! His report card came in with a C in science, a in computers and A in band. He is now just taking Band at the middle school and everything else is done at home through WAVA K12. Some days are good with it and others not so much. all in all it is working out.

Joshlynn is getting prettier and prettier every day. Her hair drives me nuts but we are trying new things and if that doesn't work a ponytail looks just fine. She recently tried for student council. She did not make it but on the council but she did make it as a class representative. Her voice is developing well and her hands tickle the piano just fine. We are talking about getting her in the discovery program in the schools or homeschooling like KC. We still have a few months to make this choice so we are just having small conversations about it. Her teacher says she is a perfect candidate for the program. Her Report Card came in with stunning 4's and 3's( number system explanation below)

Jami is such a social butterfly and tries to set up playdates for everyday. She loves fashion and music. She is assigned a ton of homework and has been good about it but would rather be putting together a magazine or trying on outfits. She too can tickle the piano well. She is also realizing that she is fragile and she can't always get in on the wrestling matches in the house nor the teasing. She often chooses to sit out of games in PE because she just gets hurt. Her teacher wants to challenge her a little more and has given her the task and goal of finding stronger books to read. Her report Card came in at all 3's but PE.

Samantha is so rough and tough with a big heart. She has agreed to go to school but often tries to pull a sick day on me just to stay home and do housework and bake. I have given in twice so far. She is usually carrying around paper, pencils, crayons, markers and paint. she is such an artist. Her bed is cluttered with it all because she works on it when she can't fall asleep. She loves the Dr. Seuss books that she started reading last year and has recently informed me that we do not have the entire collection. She mostly plays with the boys at school but gets along well with all the girls. Her report card cam in with 3's and 2's. Her teacher uses a 2 on the things that he just introduced.

Zoe rules everywhere she goes. it does not matter if we are in a grocery store or any school there is always someone that knows her. We often hear her name being called and then a hug following immediately. She recently won her teachers heart when a boy smashed her finger in the toy microwave. Her teacher came to help work the problem out but Zoe insured her with these words " us girls we just have to work it out". She cried it out by herself while cleaning up and then joined in on the next activity. She of course hugged the boy and told him she was fine. Her hair continues to get long and her smile grows bigger and bigger everyday. She loves preschool and got great reviews at the parent teacher conference. She needs to work on her last name and writing two digit numbers.

The kids are all participating in Sunshine Generation. It might not be their favorite thing to do some weeks but they are all doing well with it and are happy they get to participate and perform for others. They are also training for the Seattle kids Marathon. 26 miles over all. The have done a mile a day since October and on the day of the Marathon it will be 1.2 Miles and a great after party. Some things we are working on is respecting others and speaking kind words.

Amazing Ring Race

Saturday August 21st Scott and I played the Amazing Ring Race put on by E.E. Robbins. We traveled by foot around Seattle using our phone to send us place to place and answering riddles or Facts. We didn't take a lot of pictures because it kept messing us up on getting our clues or using our phone GPS. We had a blast and are definitely in to do again next year. Hopefully some friends will join us and the after party will be a little more livelier.

We have been here a year already

Well we have been in WA for a year so I thought I would share some highlights of it.

It may have been one of the fastest choices we have made and it may not be what I had dreamed it would be, but we have laughed, cried, learned and grown since we have been here and because of that we are ready to stay here for another.

Chicken 'n' Green Bean Casserole

Joshlynn was in charge of dinner on Tuesday and this is what she made up. I was in the background helping her get the measurements right and guiding her with what might taste good what might not. along with this she made mashed potatoes and a salad. It was delicious.

Chicken 'n' Green Bean Casserole By Joshlynn Knight July 2010

You will need:
5 pieces boneless, skinless chicken
two cans of green beanstwo cans of cream of mushroom
chopped onions
one cup of milk
bread crumbs
pepper

Directions:
Pan fry chicken in olive oil and seasonings of choice(we used season all and a garlic and herb medley). While chicken is cooking, combine green beans, cream of mushroom, chopped onions, and one cup of milk. Stir. Add fresh ground pepper to taste. Cut chicken into small pieces. Add chicken to soup mix. Pour into 9x13 dish. Bake for 20 minutes. Sprinkle bread crumbs to cover casserole. Bake 5 more minutes.

Low tide

We have spent the last two days play at Seahurst Park during the low tide. KC found some fun things on our first day. Starfish, sting ray, jelly fish and lots of crab. We played with friends and soaked up the sun.

Seattle Day trip

What an adventure this was. We took public transit. Not a first for me but pretty darn close. I have never done this with the kids and was a little nervous but it was great. It was a Holiday so we only had to pay for Scott and I to ride the buses. Day pass $4.50.
Zoe could not stop smiling nor talking because she was so excited to ride a bus. All the kids were. The first ride was a little crowded but we were one of the firsts on so we had seats. The rest of the day it was calm and quiet on the buses and some good conversation. Zoe entertained the passengers and the drivers were very impressed with the kids behavior. My kids rock.

Our first stop was the children's museum. This was a cute museum and I am sure I will take the younger girls back. There was an Art center, a grocery store, a building area, a restaurant and made up homes from China, India and more. Good time was spent there and the kids got imagine and be creative.

Then back to the bus stop to head to the The Ballard Locks. This was my favorite part of the day. I am fascinated by raising and lowering the water. Oh and watching the people work together to get the boats tied up is so fun. We saw some of the coolest boats. One accident almost happened and then another guy could not park his boat. It took him about 6 or 7 tries.There is also a Salmon ladder to look at and learn about the salmon life.

I think Scott and I could have spent the rest of the afternoon there but the kids did not enjoy it as much and we all needed a bathroom break. So Off to find bathrooms and catch the bus again. This time we are headed to the University of Washington Botanic Gardens.

When we arrived it didn't look all that great and we found a trail that lead us to a playground. The kids immediately took the slides and toys. Scott pulled out his hammock and relaxed a while. i took KC and Joshlynn for a walk to see if there was anything to look at. We found stuff and looked and played for a while and then grabbed the others and went and looked some more.

I will go here again too. It is very calming and quiet. Off to the bus stop to wait for the bus and on our way home. It was great and Scott planned well. He had something for all of us. We packed our food for the day and treated ourselves to some ice cream and soda in the afternoon. I thin we spent less than $20.00 for this trip:)

Sami loves t-ball

Sami finished t-bal at the end of June. We thought it was a step backwards but she had fun with her friends. I just have to remember to take her up to the school to practice and stay with it.

We didn't have real fields to play on so t-ball on grass was interesting. They started the season with hitting from the t but most of the games were rescheduled due to rain so they ended up playing coaches pitch.(half way through the season they are able to switch to coaches pitch). Sami has a good eye and knows when to swing.

She loves playing 1st base and catcher. She can't wait for next season but we will have to go through another league to get real ball.

Sunshine Generation

It has been a year and I am so happy to get it going again. Classes start next week and I am excited to get to sing and dance with all my kids and their friends. Scott has helped me put all the fliers together and taught me how to advertise a little. Thanks for all the love and support you all have given me to get this going.

I can't forget these picture. The kids have really helped and this is where Jami and Sami sat while I took pictures in hopes that I would get them being so cute. the others are of Zoes's work. She loves to pull weeds and the stepping stones is her area that she works on, she pull s weeds and sweeps the stones. The other pictures are of our art work when we need a break from gardening.

Begginings of our Gardens

We have dug up grass, tilled the ground, moved tree bark and have planted for the last two weeks and this is the result. Of course I will post pictures when things start to show better but we are so excited about our work that I have to share.
This is the garlic that we just bought ans started growing in the fridge so we put it in the ground.

We have also planted lemon cucumber, yellow squash, mini sugar pumpkins, yellow onion, red onion, carrots, potatoes, strawberries, blueberries , raspberries, chives, dill, sage and rosemary. Other flowers to plant are petunias, daisy, lavender and much much more. The TA in Sami's class started all the flowers from seed and let the kids go into her green house and pick out some plants. I thought we would come home with a few plants for each kid to plant. We cam with over 60 plants. She even gave us a baby apple tree and a tomato plant. We started some from seed too. We are so lucky. I can't wait for it to all start showing.

Vacation & Family Reunion in Klamath Falls Oregon

These pictures are from our trip to the Lava Beds National Monument.

We had a blast and were so happy that they had a cave that everyone could do. With ages ranging from 4 to 80 and with some knee difficulties and head injury's we weren't so sure this would be a fun trip. It was and there was something for everybody. KC went to the opening of all the caves we toured but once the rails stopped and the path was all rock or not lit up he turned around and said "no way". I am proud of him for being strong enough to say no. We did let him go in the last cave and kept him in between two adults and never let him go. At times he sat out with the Grandmas so I could go in and take a peek. The Golden one was our favaorite. I think it was fun because at first you have to pass a rock called Headache Rock. There isn't much space between it and the ladder down and you can't look to see where it is and if you are clear. Luckily with the large group we were able to guide each other down and we had no headaches from it. Once we got further inside the top of the cave was golden. It is a bacteria that gets trapped under the water and it appears as gold.

Looking back at the opening of our fist cave Skull cave Waiting for Uncle Adam or Scott to tell us wich way to go. We saw 3 openings.We turned off all of the falshlights to show the kids just how dark it is deep down.

Oh and once the weather got warm and the snow cleared we enjoyed some outside time playing volleyball and crochet. We loved being with family and away from everything else. I hope the next 3 years go by fast so we can do it again.

KC's Head injury

It was a lovely Saturday and everyone had somewhere to be or something to do. KC was on a hike and the rest of us were invited to a friends house to celebrate birthdays. We are all having fun and Scott and I were planning a trip to the temple that evening. We got a phone call around 2:30 and I surely thought the conversation was going to be something like " hi Mom we are headed home". Instead it went something like this "Um sister Knight we have KC here and he got hit in the head with a rock he is bleeding and we have him bandaged up but he would like to talk to you." Well most everyone knows how KC is when he gets hurt and he cannot calm down so you can imagine what it was like to try to talk to him over the phone and try to calm him down. After talking with him I passed the phone to Scott to find out where to meet them and to make a plan. At this point they still had two hrs of hiking down the trail so we just sat back with phone in hand and let the girls play. We received another phone call that KC wasn't responding and they had called 911 to come help. Through a few phone calls and exchange of numnbers we were able to stay in communication with the EMT's and they were able to direct us to the right hospital.
The girls stayed at the friends house wich just so happens to be my visiting teachers home and Scott and I headed to to meet KC. On our way the EMT's called and said we are taking him to Harbor view Medical Center. Luckily Scott and I weren't too far down the road and just had to back track a few miles to get going in our new direction.

KC spent a few hours in the ER and then 1 1/2 days in ICU and 2 days in the pediatric care. He got to come home on the 24th. He was having a hard time with nausea and wanting to eat. While he was there his leaders and some of the boys came to visit and told him the whole story and brought him one of the sticks that was part of the stretcher that was built for him. He was sent home with a lot of restrictions and some meds. He did just fine when we got home and woke up the next day ready to eat and he kept it all down. He did a lot of sleeping and watching movies. We spent some time catching up on school work and playing games. He had several visitors and they all brought him candy and fun activities.

I was very torn through this as to where I should be. The girls were battling colds and wanted to attend school and I wanted to be there for them and comfort them but I also wanted to be with KC in the hospital to comfort him. Luckily Scott was able to take one of the spots. I stayed with KC the first night and then Scott stayed with him and I went home to tend to the house and comfort and love the girls. We got up and made it to school and Zoe rested and got better. Tears were shed by all and Love was brought in by many. I loved the phone calls and I loved the help. Scott and I were able to switch again and it worked out well. I still felt like I should be at home when I was at the hospital and when I was at home I felt that I should be at the hospital.

KC is doing well and has had his staples removed and we will be having follow up appoinments soon.

My camera is back to working yeah!!!!! I can keep everybody updated.

Twin Day was so fun this year. We live close to friends and were able to really be twins this year.

Jami and Eden had a blast being exactly alike. Thank goodness I have lots of outfits that match exactly. Samantha got to dress up with her best friend and they really could pass as twins. KC has the same shirt and so he wanted to match them too. Joshlynn and her friend went back and forth with what to wear and how to do the hair. Joshlynn was asked to cut her hair and she said "no way but I will just not do my hair and we will match." They were both satisfied and it was fun.

I have been so busy being a mom and having fun that I haven't taken the time to share it with ya'll.

Halloween was fun this year. We had several activities that gave us the opportunity to wear our costumes more than once this year.

We hiked around and learned how our water is cleaned on this trail.

Jami and Zoe did get to go shopping and spend their birthday money. Zoe got 4 outfits(dresses and skirts of course) these pictures shoe her favorites. Jami got 3 dresses and this is her favorite. She feels so fancy.

We are up and rolling

We finally have everything unpacked. Well I think so. There are some things I can't find and somethings that have to stay packed because there just isn't anywhere to put it.

Anyways we started school and like it so far even though the schedule is weird. Friday School doesn't start until 10:05 am and Sami Doesn't got to school every Friday. The kids love their classes and love that they have 2 recess times and they can be loud at lunchtime. Only our Beaver friends will understand that. Here are some pics of what we have been doing lately.KC rides his bike through here everyday but today he did not make the jump so he smiled for the camera.First day of school at the end of the day. they don't look too worn out they just can't see through the brightness of the sun.
Jami was so excited to get her picture taken and it just so happened we were standing outside her classroom so she was even more excited.
Sam and Jami have been fighting over this blue coat and since Jami is already at school when it is time for Sami to go Sami wins.
We can't ;eave Zoe out. She really wants to go to school but she just isn't old enough. 2 more years sweetie.
When it rains we get wonderful puddles at the end of the driveway and the girls love it. They puit Zoes bike in a perfect spot and spun the tires to spray water everywhere. They were soaked but sure had fun.
They took turns spraying. I think Zoe got the highest sprays.
This is the forest next to our house. Kc was trying to catch up to Joshlynn and a friend. Squirt doesn't like it in the forest she whimpers when we go down there.

Plum Pecan Muffins

MMMMMMM they are so yummy.

Here is my recipe for yummy Plum Pecan Muffins

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup plum sauce see below
1 cup flour
1 dash or 2 of cinnamon
1/2 cup of chopped pecans

Mix together the first 5 ingredients. Slowly stir in the flour and cinnamon. Mix so the flour is all blended in. Stir in pecans. Fill greased muffin tins 2/3 full bake @ 400 for 15 min. Keep an eye on it for the last few minutes or edges will start to burn.

Plum sauce
Pit 6 small plums or 2 large plums.
Puree in blender
In small pot heat on low as you mix the above ingredients. This helps to thicken a little.

We tripled the batch and made breakfast for the future. Our freezer is so yummy right now. This is a very sweet muffin but if you want sweeter you can add a glaze to it. I don't have a recipe because I don't like glazes. I am also working on a gluten free recipe but I have a few kinks to work out.

We are doing great hanging in CA. Nights have been tough with the kids missing their dad. We have had many outings and lots of love surrounding us. I do not have any pictures to add at this time due to the fact that I packed my cords to my camera and have now way to download my pics. I will be hitting the store this week to find something to do that with.

KC and I spend some mornings at the skate park. We go early in the morning to beat the heat and the crowd. We get it to our selves for the most part. I exercise while he practices his jumps and stuff.

Joshlynn is learning a lot about the places around her. If I take her anywhere our trip takes 1hr + because she reads everything. It isn't a bad thing except for when you are walking in Six flags trying to get to a ride and she is lolly gaging and reading. She did get her ears pierced and loves it. She is constantly looking in the mirror to see what she looks like.

Jami is still holding onto her tooth that just won't budge. Jami is very fragile so she won't eat anything that might help loosen it. She won't eat apples, corn on the cob and more. Yikes I am about to threaten her with a trip to the dentist to get it pulled. I can see the other tooth coming in so it has got to come out now. She has really gotten attached to her thumb again. We though she was done but then we had to go and make a big change in our life and it became her best comforter again.

Samantha got her ears pierced too. She often rubs her ears and panics because she feels a bump on her ears and thinks she has hurt herself. she usually ends up laughing and saying "mom I am so silly". She has become a deep thinker and really ponders on the things people say to her when she doesn't quite understand. She still loves to be my helper and sometimes tries to take charge of situations.

Zoe is Zoe and she is happy and having fun. She had her first experience with a theme park and I think it went well. There was so much at this park for the little kids to do. She is getting taller and her hair is getting longer. She has already grown out of some summer clothes. Thank goodness she can wear the same size as Jami and Sam in most things.

Scott is still plugging away and making some good sales. He was able to get our house all loaded up and to Washington. Yes he did have to stop once to have work done on the trailer but we all know that something would happen. He sounds pretty cheerful on the phone. I can't wait to put a face to that cheerfulness.

As for me I am very worn out but still moving forward. I a putting together all my Sunshine Generation(choir) stuff so that when I get to WA all I have to do is find a location.

We are having fun with family, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins are great. KC has boys to play with.

Knight happenings this week.

I guess for the time being I will have to do weekly blogs.

This week I packed and packed and packed. I had a few helping hands and great friends to talk to while I did it all. I did have someone that I had to just say "Please don;t return to my house and please don;t call again" but that is a different story hopefully to not have to be talked about much.

Samantha and Zoe had a blast this week playing at friends houses and being spoiled with yummy food and lots of love from others. I am amazed at how much I can get done when the kids aren't around. I am also amazed at how quickly I get lonely. One hour goes by and I am lost. Thank goodness for the tv. Yes I do talk back to the tv and it feels great because it doesn't really talk back.

Jami has another loose tooth. She hopes she looses it before we leave. She is a bit afraid of the water and doesn't take on any dare jumps into the pool. She remembers everything that she learned in swimming last year and practices everyday.

We had field day at the school. The kids had a blast but really couldn't tell me what they did. Field day is more like a carnival here. Anyways it was fun and tiering.

We had a great primary activity. We did 4 stations and played games. Hullabaloo Mormon style, Scriptionary, Treasure hunt, Siedwalk chalk and playdough. It was a lot of fun and very relaxing for me.

I had to do a beautiful butterfly on Samantha's head. I was on my way to the store and Kaitlyn(great family friend and kids babysitter) was playing with the girls on the swing and a silly game they were playing but Samantha got poked in the head with the bottom of the swing(the swing is a rope with a round log for a seat). It looks like somebody took a ball point pen and poked her in the head with it. Luckily I was just seconds away and came to help her out and I did my first butterfly.She is very embarrased and won't talk to anybody about it. She doesn't even want to be seen by her family.

KC and Joshlynn did have to clean the trays from school. We normally do it with shaving cream but I don't have any and I'm not going to go by some. Did any of yo know that shaving cream is a fun way to clean off pencil and crayon marks.

Sunday is here and we are relaxing and playing on LDS.org all day. Zoe is the best a the match game. She does use the hint every time but she loves it and it is good entertainment. Tonight we are discussing our favorite things about TX.

Going strong but very lonely

We are all doing well but are missing Scott very very much and I am sure he is missing us. The packing is almost done and the end of the year parties are being planned.

Samantha actually got to play a t-ball game this week. We had a dry day and it was great weather and we had a blast playing at the park after. This park has an awesome hill that would be perfect for ice blocking (something that I hear is a very fun activity but never have experienced).

We went swimming everyday this week and we aren't so pasty white anymore. The water is still very cold but we just can't resist all of the fun a pool provides. Jami and Sam remembered so much from their swim lessons last year and Joshlynn's dives are beautiful.

KC's stitches came out on Friday. After I consulted with a dr. in our ward we all agreed it was time to pull them out. My stomach turned the whole time only because I was afraid that I was taking them out too early. Stitches normally stay in for 2 weeks unless they are on the face due to scaring. KC was great and had a lot of friends at the house to watch it all happen.

Today I woke up with Zoe in my bed. She slept there so that she could wish me a happy birthday. What a sweet child. Jami woke up and came running in ready for me to pull her tooth on my birthday. She worked on it so hard yesterday so it would be ready for her to give to me as a present. How thoughtful but how gross. Samantha made me two colorful cards and gave me hugs. My mom called. I love to hear her voice. Scott sent me a picture of him and sang to me. Wow how blessed I am to have a husband that will sing to me. KC has wished me Happy birthday throughouy the day and had a hug each time. We had friends in and out all day swimming and eating and celebrating with us. It was fun and my friends all spoiled me with sweets and gift cards. Joshlynn brushed my hair for me and pulled it back into a pony. It was so relaxing.

I think my mom-in-law called lastnight but the voicemail screwed up the song. Thanks a bunch for helping me celebrate and giving me the opportunity to do something for myself.

Love to all and thanks for a special day. I could not have asked for anything better. Ok I really wanted my hubby to come home but that is just wishful thinking. He is doing well and gets to really start tomorrow. I wish him the best of luck and great success to our future.

How to make the time go.

Well one and a half weeks have gone by since Scott has been in Washington and we are all doing great. HAHAHAHAHA

What have we done to make the time go by you might ask? Well here it goes.

-Samantha missed field trips due to Allergies being mistaken as pink eye.
-KC sprained his ankle
-Nette hosted a baby Shower and while doing so Samanthat managed to climb to the roof of the Rec Center where the shower was.
-Samantha and a sharpie had a blast in my bathroom. she has recently learned how to write all of the letters in the Alphabet and her name. There was no question as to who did the damage.
-We have managed to eat pretty decent meals and some not so decent meals.
-We have learned how to use web video to communicate.
-KC busted his forehead open and we had an 8 hr visit in the ER to get 8 stictches.
-We have held several conversations about the move and everyone is so concerned about the house I don't get it.
-Kids had late nights and sleepovers with great friends and a great teacher while KC and I were at the ER.
-Nette got lessons on taking care of the pool. Just to find out that there is something else wrong.
-KC went camping.
-We have cried.
-We have played.
-And today laundry got done, the tv was on all day, we had three square meals and a great snack, and we listened to the rain. The kids are claiming to be cleaning the playroom but I think they are just playing.

Thanks to everyone for the help, love, support and understanding. A big thanks to my hubby for getting up and going to work and learning and telling me all of the wonderful things of Washington.

We chose to not go to school this week

Does anyone remember what my summer was like last year???? We spent the whole summer with Chicken Pox. I am not about to do the same thing with H1N1. We have too much going on and I would hate for my kids to be that sick.

What did we do. Well KC and Joshlynn did get to go to school just to take their TAKS tests and Jami to do her TPRI test but as soon as they were done they phoned home and I signed them out.

We spent the week exercising, spelling, writing, social Studies, math, science and art and news. I think I covered every subject and they all learned something. So did I. I didn't take pictures because I had 5 different lessons going on at one time. we had fun, but we are hoping that their will be no more cases and we can go back to school on Monday.

We did weather reports, made a volcano, color wheels and mixed colors, State reports, along with age appropriate writing activities and mathematics. the kids amaze me with the stuff they already know and the things they were willing to learn. We had lots of play time and did real P.E. I say real P.E. because we actually did some physical activities like running and knee bends and danced. I moved these kids until they dropped and we loved it.

Zoe participated with it all but on Friday she asked when is she going to have her home back. She said some pretty funny things this week. My favorite was "Foot stop Snoreing". She was sitting on her knees doing her work and her foot fell asleep and when it started tingling she thought it was snoreing.

I love all of my kids and had a great week with them. I am grateful for the patience that I was blessed with this week and for the knowledge I do have to teach my kids.

Conference was great

Conference was great. I have one more session from Saturday to listen to and I am sure it will be as great and as helpful as the other 3 sessions I listened to. I find it so neat that some of the talks really get me and make me feel as if they are talking directly to me. They definitely gave me some things to ponder on and great direction for the things I need, want and desire for my family. Temple attendance, tough it out through change, finances and so much more.

The kids did great I had a tally mark sheet for them to use for if they chose to listen. KC stayed put for the whole thing, but as soon as the girls heard the organ and the choir they were up and off doing quiet things. I wish they were in the room for President Thomas S. Monsons last remarks when he was talking to every member of the family. Thank goodness for DVR's and lds.org and the Ensign.

I am very thankful for a relaxing day and being spiritually fed. Oh and I loved the yummy brisket we ate at a friends house after.

I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did.

What keeps us busy

Well we have been busy with the kids activities.

Joshlynn got a bike for her birthday. She loves it but is still figuring out how the gears work. She also got games, clothes and more clothes and more clothes. We recently took the kids to the bank to get some money from their savings and let them go shopping. Joshlynn bought a camera and is getting excited about photography.

Jami had a Texas Rodeo at school. She made a stick horse and was suppose to race it with her other classmates but it was raining that day so they let the kids play with them in the gym. She was so excited to dress somewhat like a cowgirl but we didn't have boots to fit.

Samantha had her first t-ball game this week. She loved every part of it. Her team name is the Sweet Peas. It was so windy and cold that she kept her sweater on the whole time. It never got in her way. She ran and hit and chased the ball just as we have taught her to.

Some other things that we have been doing are gardening, scouting, choir and enjoying renting movies from the redboxes. I love the price and the entertainment.

First Big Rain

We had our first big rain this year and I love this day. I pulled out our rainy day box from the attic and the girls have been happily playing for 3hrs now. We have the train set, Mr. Potato head(we have 3 different sets so in all it is 5 potato heads to play with), wind up race cars and playdough. Have I mentioned how much I love this day. No one is fighting and everyone has something to do. When the older kids get home and the homework is finished we will play games.. I can't wait I love games.

KC will have to skip out because he again made some bad choices. He does everything that he should do with many reminders but he also does everything he shouldn't do. I am sure he will have some fun today as we feed the missionaries. That is always fun for little boys. He has recently earned his Bear in Cub Scouts and is focusing on all the activity badges he can do as a Webelo.

I hope others around me can enjoy the rain as much as I do. I just wish it was a little warmer so we can go splash in the puddles. Driving through them will have to do for now.

Other reasons why I am grateful for and love the rain(if you read my families blogs you will know why I added this section)
1. My allergies aren't a problem
2. I don't have to water the garden
3. Sometimes it keeps Scott from having to work and he can spend the whole day with us.
4. The earth looks so clean and I can focus and appreciate the beauty that has been created for us.

Moving Linda was hard and we miss her dearly. It is very hard to call and talk to her. I always think of calling her and then I say oh she'll be over to watch NCIS with us so I will just tell her then. Well that doesn't work any more. Linda we miss you.

Scott seems to be on Campouts all of the time. Ok so it is every 3rd weekend of the month. He has started a blog. He is having a blast with the youth. He is starting to plan one of our favorite activities but I have to keep that on the down low I think. He has been doing many things for work it seems like but I am not sure of all the things that he has done. He has gotten the gocart running and most of the kids love it. KC and Scott went through a grassy, mud puddle and thought that it was cool to show me the outcome. I did not let them into the house for a while.

KC has had to put soccer on hold until he can get school work under control. I am sad that I will not get to see him play but I am Glad for the steps he is taking to succeed and make it through 4th grade. He one Pine wood Derby. He had the opportunity to go to a skate/bike park. He learned a lot that day and had a blast. It was his 10th birthday surprise. We are hoping to have an early Saturday to go and play at the park so he can have more space to learn in.

Joshlynn is getting smarter every second. I am amazed at how much knowledge she can store. she is having a good time in choir and advancing in piano. She has taken a big step in being a big sister and has let Jami join her in choir. She has also agreed to me taking over as the directer of the choir. Joshlynn gets to go to the Fort worth Zoo on Valentines day with her Teacher. She is excited for the one on one time she will get.

Jami has a big challenge ahead of her. She has to stop sucking her thumb. We had dental appt. today and the dentist said "stop or you are going to have to get a retainer to wear that will stop you." Jami didn't like the idea and is up for the challenge. She loves choir and just received her first solo. She is practicing hard and can't wait for the performance in March.

Sam is learning so much in Pre-K and can now recognize all of the letters and their sounds. She loves to color and made an awesome 100th day of school project. She is starting t-ball next month. She realized that soccer is fun but she would rather catch a ball. Over winter break the kids got 2 trips to the indoor bounce place and on one of the sessions she spent the entire time playing catch with an employee. She has been catching and running bases every chance she can get.

Zoe has been wishing that she is 5. she wants to go to school so bad. I have made a home school environment for her but it is just not enough. She just realized that 4 is going to be a great age too because she can join choir at age 4(family rule). She spends her mornings with Scott and cartoons. Every Friday is tickle Friday. Zoe and I cuddle and watch her morning cartoons and on commercials we tickle and wrestle.

I am enjoying getting my house organized and decorated. We received a few things from Linda when she moved and I just this week finished setting things up how I like it. I am still finding small Christmas decorations out. Luckily the last box is still down and open and has room left in it. I have recently made a new great friend. It is sad how we met but it has turned into a great and blessed friendship. Most of you know the story. Scott and I took a weekend away(thanks to all of our friends who helped with the kids). We just took a break from life and it was great. Our phones rang maybe twice the whole weekend. We went to the art Museum and enjoyed movies in the Hotel.

We are doing well other than sore backs, tennis elbow, bumps and scrapes.

Scott went to Washington

Scott went to Washington this past week. I am sure he had a great time but I have not heard much yet. I know that there are a lot of pictures to share of the beautiful place he was at. I was really nervous as to how things would go at home. It has been a while since Scott has been away for such a long time. KC generally gets really sick(not sleeping and throwing up the whole time. Its just nerves). He did really well this time. We all did. I was a grump towards the end of the day but that is normal. I do not enjoy bedtime.

We had many things to do to keep us busy. We also have had Grandpa Knight here. The kids love that. However he is sick with a cold or flu and I have tried to keep him in one room(everyone knows how I am with sharing sick germs) so the kids have not had their normal visit with him.

Wednesday night we had Pack Meeting.

Thursday Zoe, Sam and I helped at the school and Thursday night is our long night filled with homework and studying before Friday tests.

Friday Zoe and I helped at the school we took over lunch and recess for third grade. We spent the night Christmas shopping and Eating dinner in the mall food court.

Saturday was filled with Birthday Parties, Cub Scout outings, Stake Christmas Concerts, friends and family and fun. We also shopped for a Christmas tree to put in the playroom/Grandpas room. We have yet to decorate due to Grandpa being sick.

Sunday was fun. KC learned how to text and spent some time talking with Scott it made the morning fun and pleasant. I have also been very hard on the kids about their Sunday activities and today they thought they were doing great. I always play BYU instrumental Radio on Sunday and the kids tried to exercise and do gymnastics to it. It was quite funny as they tried to move to the very slow and relaxing beat. I watched from the kitchen and prepared dinner and laughed the whole time. KC also learned how to braid hair and is anxious to do Samanthas hair for school tomorrow(I am sure everyone at this point is thinking that I do not do boy stuff with KC but that is soooooo not true). We went to church and we finsished this evening with the wonderful Christmas devotional given to us from Our loving Prophet and his counselors. I loved their messages and the songs that were song. I am so excited to celebrate this season.

I am so happy that Scott is returning home shortly and am so gald that he had the opportunity to go. I am grateful for my kids to have been well behaved while he was gone. I owe them big time this week.

I have no pictures to go along with these things because I have wanted to sit back and watch or participate.

Joshlynn participated in the UIL(United interscholastic League) competition again this year. She was on the poetry team. She spent 1 1/2 months going to practices and learning about poetry. At the contest she was given two topics to choose from and then she wrote a poem about it. She received an honorable mention award and had a blast learning about poems and being around people with the same interests as her. We do not get to see the poem but we do get to see her happy face from her great accomplishment. She is now entering into a Reflections contest were she has to create a picture using crayons, paint, computer graphics, metal or wood and go by the theme "WOW".

Jami is finishing up her Tap class this semester and is ready for it to be over. They are not doing a performance this semester due to a conflict with the techers wedding and school schedule so Jami is very dissappointed and wants to be done. She wants to join Joshlynn in the choir and go to those performances. I do have to say that the choir is a very rewarding activity. There are so many performances and opportunities for solos and to be the spotlight. Starting in January both Joshlynn and Jami will be singing and dancing for us.

Zoe is learning and growing every minute. She is coming more and more independant. During our Thanksgiving dinner she was cold so she got up from the table(without asking a big no no during dinner time) and closed the slider door. She did it all by herself and without asking. It made me sad that she is growing up but it made me feel so proud that she can think and do for herself and with great confidence. She too loves the choir and practices in the back when she gets to go. She sings and dances at home and is always wearing a dress.

KC is testing his boundries. He is making some poor choices and paying the consequences. He is not doing wnything reall bad just very dissappointing and are not the things that we have taught him. He is very loving to his family and we love him dearly. I just hope this is a phase and will pass shortly. He spends a lot of time doing homework(left over class work mostly) and riding his bike. He has found where all the kids in the neighborhood live and goes for bike rides to see who can play. He is getting a few tricks on his bike mastered and loves to show us what he can do.

We have enjoyed many family walks and family movies lately. I am trying my hardest to keep us all together for dinner and activities but I know with sports and school activities I am going to have to try harder and. It is what my family needs at the end of each day. Let me know how you get the family together at the end of each day.

Smantha's Soccer Party.

We had a great season with Samantha's soccer team. I have to say her coach is the best. We learned lots and played well and made great friends. Our Soccer party was at a park and we did potlock for food. The kids ate well and played at the park and they loved getting there trophy. They sufferd through all of the pictures but guess what we found them doing when everyone was ready to pack up and go. Soccer. They were playing keep away. I am soooo glad that they picked up on things we play at practice and can do it on their own. I love being the coach and learning how to play soccer. I enjoy having soemthing to do with Sam.

New set up

Last week while the kids and I were sick Scott worked on the house a bit. He put in a new entertainment center and added storage space to the Family Room. I love it soooo much. I spent all last week on the couch with Samantha while she was fighting a chest cold. I could not fall asleep because I was afraid that when I woke up my new set up would be gone. I kept staring at it because I love it so much. You can stare at it too and love it so much with me.The kids love it too. They are doing such a good job of keeping the backpacks and coats put away. Scott hung hooks in the tall cabinet for the backpacks and coats. We no longer see them nor trip over them. I can keep all of my office stuff close to me and not strung all over the house or piled up on the printer and desk. I love it sooooo much. Thanks Scott. Scott and I spent an afternoon staining it. It was fun working with Scott.

Some changes

We have gone through some business changes but I do not have pictures of the new logo yet. Check back next month.

We have sold the Van and our Truck "Rusty" burned down. We traded the pool table for a go cart that we hope is up and running soon. We are getting ready for a garage sale and it is mostly toys. Yup we are cleaning house. I am so excited for this to happen. Scott and I haven't lived in a house this long and things were starting to just pile up and up an up and I can't stand it any longer.

October is soooooo busy

A night of games and activities with our friends. Our friends brought a Giant cookie to decorate and some fun games to play. We love our friends

OOHHHHH Yummy frosting and candy corn.

Days off from school allow us some family time at the roller rink. We are practicing and preparing for the ice rink.
The weather has cooled down so we can turn on the oven during the day and make sugar cookie cut outs. Thanks Mom for the awesome cookie press. We had a day watching the neighbor kids and needed something fun to do. Sugar cookies make everybody happy.

The Tooth Fairy visited our house because Jami lost her First tooth. Zoe now has loosened teeth and tries everyday to pull them after she brushes them.

After a morning of Soccer games Jami needed to get her eyes checked and we just so happened to be eating lunch by the Eye Dr. So Jami and Scott did the eye exam and I took the kids to the park in the middle of our Mall. I love that I can accomplish so much in one trip. Lunch, eyes, and a park to burn energy.

Joshlynn had her first Choir performance. It took place at the Richardson Arts Festival.

KC is camera shy right now so he is not in any of the pictures. I can say that he has been busy trying to get his grades up and take more responsibility in his school work. Soccer is coming to and end. He has a tournament in 2 weeks and hopes that he can stay on track with school work to play in all 3 games.

A peaceful day at the park

Sunday was Stake conference for us and we had the 9:00 session so we planned a day at the park for after. It was a much needed trip for our kids. They needed a day to be a kid.

It was a very relaxing day and was fun for all. First we had pre made lunches(lunchables and salads). We also had fruit and homemade tortilla chips and granola bars oh and I can't forget juices for the kids and Soda for the adults.

We then said goodbye to Linda as she had many boxes to unpack and we were getting ready to go for a walk.

We walked around the pond and watched the turtles and fish( I don't think I have ever seen so many little fish) we found a trail through the woods and had to climb a tree to get across the creek.

We then let the kids play at the playground while we sat back and rested.

Saturday was a difficult day for me. Scott was at a Scouting event and I was doing soccer with the kids. I had great moms and dads and wonderful Linda to help me out while I coached Samantha's game. We did great through KC's game as well. I was thinking to myself that I will be able to handle Scott being gone on scouting trips and then.

KC dissapears. We had discussed him going home with some of his team mates but I thought I had made it clear that he couldn't go until I talked to the parents and exchanged phone numbers. I was loading our stuff onto my 2 arms and trying to round all of the kids up. As I approach our Suburban I notice KC is not with me and I think I am seeing him leave in a car.

I waited around the field for a while and never saw him so I am pretty sure he went home with someone. All the way home I am praying and I am searching through my phone to see what numbers I do have and really not trying to call Scott(it was a good thing I didn't call him because his phone was off). We got home how I don't know I don't remember really paying attention to the road. I got the girls settled and was able to find a phone number. It was a Dad and he says I don't know we left in two cars and I am at the store. I will call you when I get home.

What would you do at this point? I was stuck and still was not sure of where my son was.

Luckily the guy thought to call home and call me back with a wonderful answer that they had KC. They had KC call me so I could calm down. When KC got home I made sure he understood the importance of what I tell him.

Later that day Joshlynn had a birthday party to go to @ Crowley Park. For those of you are not familar with this park, you cannot see one end from the other. It roundds and is seperated by tress and a pond. I was planning on leaving Joshlynn for a little bit I had many things I wanted to do, but I did not see the parents anywhere it was just women with hardly any clothing on and really bad language. The host(still not sure the relation to the birthday girl)sent the girls to the playground. No one went with them and you could not see them fron where you are. Oh might I add this is a very busy park there are people everywhere. I decide to stay and so does another dad. I am glad I stayed because the adults left the girls to play at the park and went on with what they wanted to do. For two hrs the girls played at the playground under mine and another fathers supervision. I also had Jami and Zoe with me and we had no water and no sunblock. I was very unprepared. the party went on adn come to find out they host did not want us to leave because they did not want the responsibility. I am glad I listened to that special voice and stayed. I did make Joshlynn leave early. the party was from 4:30-7:00pm with no food. I still had a family to feed.

What would you do with your kids. At what age do you let them go? I love my precious kids and don't want them to leave my side nor sight.

Zoe's birthday is coming up and this is what her invitation looks like. My sister is so creative with photos and words that I asked her to use her talents and make Zoe's invitation. Zoe is a huge fan of M n M's and wanted to share them with everybody on her birthday.

She is so excited for this event and as we are planning we are going over he list of invitees and she is requesting that the Jonas Brothers be invited. I try to make my kids birthday wishes come true but this one I can't do. I did my best and went to their web page and sent a comment question in hopes that they will reply with a nice birthday message for Zoe.

A camping we will go

We went camping over Labor day weekend. It was a such a blast even the boat blasted. We broke it. We thought it was simple and something put a whole in the oil can but when we got home and had more eyes to look at it it seems to be more.

We did get to use the boat for 1 1/2 days. It was long enough for me to know that I can drive the boat with the top down adn for KC to get up on the ski's.

The Lake (Lake Belton) was wonderful. The water was so smooth and the nature sounds were very relaxing.

It was very different camping without a baby and diapers and whipes. I miss the wipes. I didn't realize all of the other things I used them for until I didn't have them. Oh and Johnson's bedtime bath washcloths are awesome. I will always take them with me when camping.

Skate boarding in the house. WHAT?????

KC has been trying all summer to do board tricks. The next door neighbor kid has been trying to teach KC. He did a good job but told KC a few fibs along the way.

We went shoe shopping due to the need of new shoes. I set the price limit and made my suggestions and I let KC go from there. 1hr later he still had not picked a pair. Either the price was too high or the shoes weren't in his size. He still would not consider my suggestions and continued to his search. It finally came down to this "Mom if I don't get these skate board shoes I will never be able to do an ollie." KC is yelling at me and his face is beat red and his veins are popping out.
I sent him to take a breather and showed him the shoes I remember my brother wearing and the shoes his father wore to skateboard in.

More time went by and Scott came to help and set KC straight on shoes and tricks. We left with a pair of black sneakers for everything use.

Later that day KC comes in requesting a new REAL skateboard. His isn't the best and one that Tony Hawk would use but it is a skateboard and you can still do the tricks on it. We tried to find out from him what a REAL skateboard is. All he could say was the nieighbor kid has one and it has more grip on it and this and that. So Scott decided to look up ollies and skateboards on u-tube and because it was so stinking hot outside and hard totake the computer out to watch utube ollie videos we did it in the house.

Wow zoe can do tricks on KC's board and she is in a dress. How about that.

Jami has been sick all week and in bed. So sad I know. KC, Joshlynn and Sam have been at friends houses all week so Zoe and I had morning with just the two of us (Jami asleep upstairs). We colored for a while and cleaned a little. Played games for a while and cleaned a little. We danced to music and sang real loud to camp rock and abc's and cleaned a little. We were having a great time and were laughing and loving it.

Lunch time came and Zoe struggled with eating by herself(even though I was right next to her).
Zoe "I can't eat by myself. This is so boring." she was whimpering and whining big time too. I had to bribe her with cookies. Luckily Sam will be home from school for lunch time. Enjoy the pictures.

Our 3day Dallas Vacation

Monday we started off with taking Zoe to our great friends house for a day of fun with her friends and celebrating birthdays(Zoe is too small for anything at 6 flags so we arranged for a fun day for her while we were gone). We said our goodbyes actually we dropped her off and couldn't ind her to say goodbye. She was so excited and she can't wait for another day with her friends.

We made our way to six flags and had a blast. We did water rides to keep us cool and stayed in the shade or A/C restaurants as much as possible. Sam thought we were going the wrong way when we got to the parking lot. On of the rides is by itself and is across the parking lot entrance you actually go under the road to get to it when in the park. She saw it and her eyes got real big and then she was disappointed because we drove right past it. KC got to ride the Tony Hawk ride and loved it. We all enjoyed the day and were so excited to get back in the car and return home to get Zoe.

Tuesday was a relaxing day. We walked through the Dallas World Aquarium. This was fun by all. the kids all commented on different things. Zoe wanted to see an elephant fish(or something of the sort) but we had no luck. I was able to help her find a fish that looked like it was dancing and she loved it. We now have a fish dance. Every time I counted heads I could never find JoshlynnWhen I did find her She was curled up reading the info book that we got at the beginning of our tour. She would view and then read view and read. She wanted to gain as much knowledge as she could. We then enjoyed wonderful burgers at Red Robin. Let me just say that If you have not tried Mango Mayo you are missing out on a fabulous thing. Scott had everything on his burger and it look disgusting but he was very satisfied. We ended our evening with the movie Space Chimps and a walk around Firewheel town center. The movie is funny and clean.

Wednesday was a hot but wet day for us. We had a great visit from our friends due to the sprinkes that fell out of the sky. they were wondering about playgroup and I am the info person on that. It was a great visit and much laughter as Scott through them in the pool. We sent them on there way in wet clothes and smiles to last a long hot day. We got our swim suits on and headed for the water park. I set our stuff down and went to check on the kids sunblock application(they all said they put it on when we were in the car) but everyone was gone and on the slides and in the water. I went down one of the slides with KC. It was a race and KC says"winner gets to pick next slide" I laugh and reply with "oh honey I think I will win but if I don't I'm not going on any other rides only this one" Lucky for me I won and went down with him again. I diddo the half pike with him later that day and it was a last. We also enjoyed Scott and Dan going on the half pike. We planned on staying until closing(7:00pm) but the park got closed down an hour early due to Health department closing them down to treat the water for Cryptosporidiosis.
We got 5 tickets for a future date and made it home to relax adn to do research on cryptosporidiosis. We had a great 3 day vacation and had a great time sharing it with Scotts Dad.

He rewarded the kids a little for reading this summer. I think we wore him out but we loved having him tag along with us and encouraging the kids do work hard.

Team Work

Summer is getting to me. I have been battling with my kids to get along and follow rules this week so last night while I was planning out my to do list for the following day it hit me that I need to take a day and give it to the kids. I wanted to ignore this because next week we are giving 3 days to the kids(six flags, water park and dallas aquarium) but it came over me so strongly that I felt I should not ignore this.

So I was woke up first by Zoe needing to go potty. They kids slowly and one by one came down stairs for what they thought was going to be a normal unhappy day around here.

My instructions
1. Eat breakfast
2. Get ready for the day
3. Full participation by every body
4. Follow rules
5. Have fun
6. No tv and video games and I will only use the computer for resources as we need them

I put together 6 activities while the kids got ready for the day. KC and Joshlynn refused to take showers this morning so Scott helped me to be a little tough on them and we gave them cold water a bar of soap and shampoo and the backyard while I took the younger girls(whom got ready on there own)for a nice morning walk and chat with the neighbors.

When we returned KC and Joshlynn were ready to participate.

I put the six activities on paper and then put them in a hat for drawing.
The person that followed all the rules got to draw from the hat.

In our activities there was a lesson for the kids. the lessons weren't really pointed out but I made sure they were learned. There was lots of reading instructions for KC to finish his reading for six flags and lots of team work. If anyone misbehaved they had to sit on the couch or go to their room.

5kids, 2 dentists and 3 dental assistants

We had our dental visits and we took the kids in at the same time. So what is the verdict?

Zoe has beautiful teeth and she needs to keep brushing and start flossing.
Samantha has great teeth and needs to continue brushing and flossing.
Joshlynn had four cavities in between her teeth and had to get fillings.
Jami is doing well but if she wants her pretty princess teeth she needs to stop sucking on her thumb before she is 6. that less than 3 months away.
KC has 4 cavities he has to go back due to scheduling. He was the first one in and the last one to be seen. They had to do x-rays twice.

I always thought teeth were just teeth. It is interesting but not fun to see that they are all different just as we are and some need more attention than others just like we do. KC and I will be returning next week to get his teeth worked on and for my exam and cleaning. YIKES!!!!

We redecorated the girls rooms. We are still in the process but one room is 90% of the way finished.

What is left to do. Organize Joshlynn's and Jami's room. Buy picture frames and paint them pink. Update light switches and outlets and paint those pink. Hang pictures and hooks. Buy bedding. We found two sets of pink sheets at Target but I needed 4. We bought the two and will continue searching for the other two. We don't have comforters because we haven't decided what we want yet. I like quilts better but it is not my room and bedding is expensive. So there you have one of our butterfly lands. Check out later this week for the showing of the other land and to see our Monkey room.

What to do when there is nothing to do

We have another summer with no boys around for KC to play with. I have let him roam the neighbor hood in search for boys his age to play with but there are none to be found until the late pm hours when we are eating and bathing and sleeping. So what do we do........... The littles are asleep and Joshlynn is at a friends house so KC and I make yummy lasagna. He is available week days and is saving for a ticket to six flags.

Summer has Started for us

We were finally able to participate in some fun activities this week and we were around people and friends.

The kids had Olympic camp on Monday and Wednesday. The younger ones had camp from 9:00-12:00 and the bigger ones had camp from 12:15-3:15. We started our morning very early because the drive was a ways away and it was through rush hour traffic (thank goodness for the carpool lanes). We had breakfast on the go and a packed lunch. KC and Joshlynn worked on reading and writing during the morning camp and we ran errands during the afternoon camp. Fun was had by all and we go back for beach game camp in August.

Jami, Sam and Zoe's favorite part was when the coach sat in a tube circle and the kids said "what time is it Mrs. Olympian?" and coach replies with" It is time for all of my Olympian medalists to ...." and she would give them something to do around her like hop or run.

KC and Joshlynn had fun just being in the open gym and climbing ropes and jumping and balancing. They played a lot of team games and learned about some of the Olympic games. KC had the opportunity to fill in for one of the coaches in a demonstration. He felt so big doing so.

The camps are held at Linda's work. Thanks Linda for working at an wonderful place for my kids to go.

The pictures aren't great because the lighting is very bad in the building.

Next we were all able to go to the library and participate in the summer reading program. For each book or hour the kids read the are rewarded with knowledge and prizes. We attend story time, do a craft, pick out books and play games and puzzles.

Zoe believes in the quiet rule at the library ans was telling her siblings to SHHHHHHHHHHHH! It was a very loud SHHHHHHHHHHH and was heard on the other side of the library but she was making her point and they all settled down.

We are very happy to be out and about. We had friends over on the days we were home and swam a lot. The Knights are back and in Action.

Camp Rock Totally Rocked!!!!!

">Friday Night was the showing of Camp Rock. We loved it and are quoting everything from it. Like WEML(What Ever Major Loser) and doing the hand motions to it. We love the songs and the Jonas brothers but some of us think that Zack Efron is way cuter.

So we held our own camp this week because we were unable to attend KC's cub scout camp like we had originally paid and planned for. Lickily I know the person who put the whole thing together and she his been a big help in getting all the kids shirts and projects. We have been able to pass off a lot of scouting requirements. Swimming, knot ties, bike riding, Flags and lots of crafts.

We are doing well and everyone is playing we just can''t be around others yet.

I am sorry for the double feature but I can't figure out what happened and I am out of time.

Things we do to keep busy.

We have had to be creative to keep our days exciting so this is what we have done.

We washed bikes and got to play with water. Swimming gets old when you do it every day.
Jami was running a fever but wanted to join in only she thought that the kids had to wash the bikes. She went out in her pajamas and got her bike and a rag and started washing. One of the kids got the hose and started the water games and sprayed everybody. Jami was so upset becasue she was working hard and didn't want to get wet. she was in tears for a while and sat down with me for the remainder of the activity. Much Fun was had by the rest and the bikes were shiny for a day or two.
KC's hair needed cut so I set up shop and had him come in with his request. So here are the results. he has had several comments from "Cool hair" to "what in the world". He knows how I feel about it. I don't like it but it is fun.

We hold dance jams every afternoon. Zoe has worn this tutu for 2 weeks now. She calls it her skirt and wants it to be on all of the time. We went to a concert in the park(great idea Scott) and Zoe had to wear the skirt. It was great and she fit right in with the music.

We missed out on three birthday parties of some really great friends so I put together a party for my kids. We had balloons, cake, BBQ, swimming, water balloons and more. We celebrated with Linda and sang Happy Birthday to our friends(well Linda and I sang in hopes the kids would sing too).

We are doing well but are lonely. Joshlynn has been able to get out and play with friends, but we are used to them all coming here. My kids are troopers and understand very well what is going on. Zoe did have a hard time on Sunday when she realized she wasn't going to church. I let her throw her tantrum because she was right in her thoughts and deserved the opportunity to be upset for a while.

First swim lessons

I know my kids can swim already, but this will teach them proper breathing and different swim strokes and techniques. They loved the first session and KC and Joshlynn got bumped up a class after their first one so they got two lessons in one day. The second one is definitely the class they need to be in. The kids love the water and Zoe can't wait until she is 4 to join in on the extra fun(we have a family rule that you have to be 4 before we sign you up or enroll you in activities).

Jami will most likely miss this weeks class because she has chicken pox, and I am sure Sam and KC will miss one class because at some point they will have the chicken pox. We love that we have something to do this summer and the kids get to see Grandma Knight at work(the swim lessons are at her work).

Not so nice

I wasn't so nice in my last post and guess what it bit me in the butt. We are sick again. Jami and i are under the weather. It really feels like the flu. Our summer is not off to good start and I am crankier than ever and my older kids will not help out and I can't yell at them.

The blessings of being sick

Did you ever think having your kids down with chicken pox and bronchitis would bring blessings and creativity. It did for us.

#1 We are a diaper free family. Zoe Uses the potty now. She plays on the swing again(this is where most of her potty accidents happened)

#2 We celebrated Scotts birthday and only had creativity to work with for a gift. It was fun and he loved it.

#3 We realized just how messy the house can get when we are all home for a week and it takes team work to keep house. I can do it all but I shouldn't have too, we aren't that sick.

#4 We also realized what appliances are broken and how much we use them and are grateful for them.
Our A/c caused water damage and froze over causing headaches and a smell in the house from burning the ice off. Water heater we thought was leaking and paid for someone to look at it and realized it was water from the A/C that is directly above the water heater. The dishwasher runs 3 times a day and my dishes aren't coming clean.

Yikes!

#5 Family is a wonderful thing and we all love each other very much, but we sure can spend time pulling hair and hitting and yelling and screaming because we love each other. I would be so excited when Scott got home and my lap and my ears could get a break. So much fighting, tattle tales, crying, crankiness and I always had to comfort somebody.

#6 We realized just how much our real friends and family love us and how so many people can be rude and hateful when your are sick.
We received phone calls or e-mails everyday from lovely friends and Family. Linda took me to the movies. Joshlynn received flowers and KC had a great buddy all week long that would play relaxing activities with him to keep him down.

Friends and Family Rock!

We did have some people not too happy with the younger ones at church on Sunday, but they were never sick and if you have ever had chicken pox you don't know you have it until you are in the 2nd week of having it. Joshlynn was around people for 2 weeks before we knew she had it. Life doesn't stop and you never know what the person standing in line next to has. All my kids were vaccinated for it and we still got it. I kept everyone home for 10 days that was long enough let us have our life back people.

We are doing great and as of right now this moment everyone is doing well and we are watching tv waiting for everyone to wake up for Scripture Reading and Family prayer. We are excited to get started on our summer activities. Thanks to all for the love and support and willingness to give us a break and get out of the house.

A quick trip to the store

These are the things that I had to buy at the store yesterday. Does anyone know why????????Joshlynn has chicken Pox. All of my kids are home on the last day of school because I am pretty sure that they already have it. We are doing lots of art and watching movies, reading and playing at home for the next 2 weeks. (the band aids were to keep Zoe busy while I read everything that I was buying)

Susan B. Anthony goes back to school

Joshlynn did a report on Susan B. Anthony and had the privilege of dressing the part. She looked great and is excited about all the things that Susan B. Anthony did. She really liked the part about Susan B. Anthony learning how to read at the age of 3 because that was about the same age Joshlynn was when she learned to read. We love school reports and projects like this. Good work Joshlynn.

What a Weekend

KC came home with his score on his Math TAKS test 39/40. I couldn't ask for better. We gave him a hair cut and a dip in the pool and we were off to ............

Chuck E Cheese. We had a blast celebrating a friends birthday and playing all the games. The big hit was the roller coaster ride. We donated most of our tickets to another child because we were in a rush to get to.............

Jami's Ballet recital. Kaitlin (our kids babysitter) was able to sneak back to Jami's waiting room and get some good pics of her. We will have to wait for those pics but this one is from her dress rehearsal.
After we were able to get a bite to eat. We then headed home just to get a few hours of sleep before....
The shopping started. We had lots of shopping to do to get ready for an Iron Chef Cook off at Church. While Scott browsed the store for the equipment he needed for the video set up the kids and I enjoyed the big screen and comfortable seats at Fry's. We had to split up to geth the remainder of the shopping done. We had groceries and more equipment to get and were running out of time. The Activity was great unfortunately I have no pictures of the event because Scott and I were running the activity. Fun was had by all and we were looking forward to tomorrow being Sunday but.......Linda needed a ride to the airport. she is going to Ca to take care of cousins while our Nephew comes home from his Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(he is in Florida). We took a family drive to the airport, made it to church 20 min late(we are never late but it was worth it). After Church Scott had invited friends to come over and help me eat birthday cake. Thanks all that came to help me turn another year older it was a blast. I just can't believe how many people wanted to know how old I was. Guess what tomorrow is a holiday so what do you think we did?

I finally got to sit with a book and let the kids sleep in , fix their own breakfast and play. Scott was supposed to work but his materials didn't arrive in time so he took the day off and went shooting with his friends. When he got home I complained a little and told him that today would have been a perfect day to get my fence done. The missionaries showed up to use the computer and Scott pulled through and got them to help put my fence up. I love it and I can see all of the backyards form my Family room now. Yeah I can watch the kids play and I don't have to be out in the heat. Thanks Scott for taking the time to do it.
Wow what a weekend and now the week has begun and the list of things to do is a mile long. What did ya'll do this weekend?

First Lake trip for 2008

We went to Lake Lavon Saturday. the kids enjoyed riding in the boat while Scott pulled the three-man tube around
with Soccer players in it. The boat broke so we didn't get very many trips in. The water was nice until the sun went behind the clouds and then it was chilly.
Zoe loved playing in the water and all of the girls enjoyed playing in the sand. KC Was able to get up on the skis but didn't last very long. He is excited to get up and go again as soon as the boat is fixed. I enjoyed playing in the water with Zoe and was glad that I didn't have to swim out to the boat for a ride. I have been told that I need to learn how to drive the boat. Oh and I met someone that is even more terrified of water than I am. I didn't think that would ever happen or maybe I have overcome my fear)

Zoe had such a blast and I got her out of her suit and buckled up and she was out before I hit the road.

What girls will say when the boys are away

It was The weekend of the Father son campout and I prepared a fun girly evening with my four girls. We watched movies, did hair, painted nails and had girl talk. Well the girl talk went something like this "When will dad be home I want to show him my nails" and "I miss the boys is KC going to be ok". Several times I tried to change the conversation to favorite songs and hair styles and so on. Jami was really the only one interested. Joshlynn threw a pitty party and cried for no reason(I know my mom will say "she is just like you Janette). Sam just talked about the boys and Zoe slept and slept because she was not feeling well. I just hope that my girls know I love them and we don't always have to be rough and tough we can be pretty and dainty at times.
Out night of pretty and daintiness are done and we are off to meet the boys at the lake for some play on the water.

Rangers Tickets

One of Scott's Suppliers had 4 Rangers Tickets For Friday Nights game. He wasn't too excited about it until he realized they were playing The Oakland A's(where we are form). We were all for it and or glad that we have great friends and relatives (thanks Kaitlyn and Grandma) to team up and babysit 7 kids so Scott and I can go have fun with our friends. I was there thinking of my Grandma. One of my greatest memories with her is playing at her house while she and grandpa listened to the game on the radio.

We got the pool filled and going. During the process we always let the kids test the water. They forget every year what the water feels like but it is great because we have videos and videos of great reactions to cold water. I hope you all enjoy. The Knight kids did well on their performances. Jami did very well on her first ballet solo.
There was lots of entertainment. singing, dancing, pianists, taekwondo and story telling. the funniest was the worm which my generation knows as the centipede. After that performance the audience(all kids) tried to do it.

According to the note left on the porch this is revenge on Scott for the food fight and the team is made up of girls thinking they are getting Scott. I didn't even here them the first time they came down. All I heard was Scott talking down the street and the show I was watching and wishing he would shut up and come home. I know it was fun but I was having a really bad night and the bright flashes in my window were really starting to get to me. Time to go do the wake up call to come clean up.

Sam can tie her shoes

This is Day 3 of trying to tie shoes. I am starting to get frustrated because she doesn't follow instructions. Yep another hard headed child who thinks they know everything.
This is Day 4 of learning and she did a great job. She followed all the rules.

What a great step in preparing for pre-k. We registered her last week so she is making sure she is ready to go. She is finally wanting to learn ABC's and 123's. She is doing well in soccer. She prefers Weekend games over weekday games. The weekday games are too late and she is too tired. She is growing up so fast and doing a great job at it. She wears the same size as Jami so they get to share clothes and they think it is so cool. I will have to get it on audio so when they are 14 and 15 and want to know what happened to the purple sweater they loved so much and neither is to blame I can rub it in their face that they once thought it was the coolesst thing.

General conference Knight style

The kids did well during conference Grandma Knight helped us well with the names. I printed a few good pages from the conference packet and gave special instructions of no talking or non participation and you go to your room. We had a few incidents which was expected. They wouldn't be normal kids if it went smooth. They filled out their papers and did a great job coloring the ties. We had a great lunch with the Lochabay's in between sessions and a great walk to burn energy and prepare for the nest session. My favorite talk was the one on Mothers and cried at the very end because he gave my lecture that I was going to give my kids on Monday. Now I don't have to I just need to reinforce it. I loved all the words that were said and am glad that we got to partake of them. We had a total of 20 people watching, listening and sleeping to the tv. 13 kids 1 infant and 6 adults.

Nette Gets to Relax

I got to do one of my favorite things today, pull weeds and plant flowers. I know that weeds are no fun but playing in the dirt knowing that the end result is going to be so pretty is very relaxing to me. Scott moved my little girl fountain and it is working again. I can't wait for the flowers to start popping up through the ground. I did wild flowers from seeds. Zoe helped with most of it and Sam wanted to do a little bit until a bug landed on Zoe and then she was finished. I will post progress pictures in the future.

Where have I been?

Can you believe it I have a few minutes to spare and share what we knughts have been up to.
I got the flu. I was down for 5 days. I am great now and don't wish the flu on anyone. My kids grew so much in those 5 days and Zoe says bigger words and tells stories. Scott was a great help and made up dinners for the remainder of the week. All the kids helped each other to get the important things done.

Soccer has started. KC has practice twice a week and has had 2 games so far. I actually pay attention to the game this season. I don't have any kids hanging on me and I have to keep track of who scores. I understand the game more now and it is so exciting and gets my heart racing at times.
Samantha has practice once a week and has had one game. It was so fun to watch the girls run on the field and to try to figure the game out. I think the funniest is when one girl falls all the girls stop to help. We don't keep score at this age but I saw it Sam scored. She loves the game but hates practice. She is a little disappointed that I am coaching and not Scott.
My Faith in God for girls program is doing well and we have had some big activities lately. I am so excited that Joshlynn will be joining me this month but with my luck they will release me, just as they did from cub scouts when KC joined.
We are planning Joshlynns baptism and having lots of spiritual discussions. She just recently went shopping with our friends the Lochabays. She spent her money well and even remembered to give Scott the change. She bought lip stuff and a rainbow skip ball. she got so bored looking at socks with the girls she was with, but enjoyed the conversation and and experience of what it would be like to have and older sister.
Jami is forever dancing and recently had the courage to talk to Scott and I about getting her ears pierced. We haven't let any of the girls pierce their ears yet but Jami has proven to us that she can take care of jewelry and her body. She has kept good care of her CTR ring since January and knows to keep it clean so her finger stays clean.
Scott is still wobbling around on his bummed knee and thinking hard about our upcoming business ventures.

Super Bowl party

Preparing for the Super Bowl was a great way to have one on one time with the kids. They each helped prepare our snacks for the party. Joshlynn made rice krispy treats. She measured and that was about it. Samantha put together our veggie tray. Samantha loves to be in the kitchen. She will definitely be making our dinners soon. She learned how to peel the carrots, but was disappointed when I wouldn't let her use the knife. Jami put together our cookie tray. She learned how to organize and stack cookies to make a nice presentation. Zoe helped me with the cheese. She told me the colors of the cheese and matched them to the other colors in the kitchen. KC stayed away from the kitchen because he was fasting and the food was all to tempting for him. I did get to have great conversations with him about fasting. He learned that it is one of my weaknesses but becoming a strength by practicing.

the Super Bowl was fun even if we really didn't have a team to get hyped up about. We went for the Giants and chose well. We loved the commercials. The lizards are our favorite. the kids had to retire to be at normal bed time so they missed out on the Victory but were anxious the next morning for us to announce the score and who one. I never thought the super bowl would bring so many blessing to family togetherness and team work but it did.

GREAT WOLF LODGE

As a family we saved up enough money to go on a trip. We chose The Great Wolf Lodge. http://www.greatwolf.com/

We left early Monday Morning and returned Tuesday evening. Monday as we arrived we got our game and was headed on a quest to become Master Magi's. In the picture is the wand that we use to help us on the quest. We had to listen for clues and search through 8 floors to collect all the runes, gold and go on adventures. You find things in pictures, on the ceiling in statues and more. Only one adventure was working on our trip. It was to slay the dragon with some of the things we collected. Scott is very good at slaying the dragon. KC got to slay it too.

The room was cool. It looks like a regular hotel room with a cabin in it. the kids room is a cabin lined with beds and a tv.

This place also has a indoor water park. It is 80,00sqft. If we weren't on our quest we were in the water. It has entertainment for all ages. Huge water slides that I am terrified by but love to hear big kids talk about it. KC fell out of his tube a few times. Scott took Jami and Sam down them. I mostly hung in the kid pool with whoever wanted to play there. I did do the wave pool with the kids and the lazy river. I am glad that the kids did not get my fear of water.
We also had time to do crafts and learn about wolves and other animals in the wilderness. We all know how to howl and make an origami wolf. It was a great trip. On our first day we had lots of help from Grandma Knight. we are glad that she was able to have a day off and join us for some fun.

An Ice adventure

We finally made it to an ice rink. We had a good time. Well most of us. The skates hurt Scott's feet but he is such a good support and let me show our kids a childhood activity of mine. The kids are so independent. KC and Joshlynn took off and did what they wanted knowing they would fall down. KC made a lot of friends and got the employees to show him a few tricks and gave him some good hints. Joshlynn made friends as well but got in a crowd that were breaking some ice rules. They were trying to make a train. Jami was doing spins and skating out to the middle by the end of the night. Samantha was a little hesitant but was content with what she found to do. She would enter the ice and skate to the exit and off the ice. She did circles for a good amount of time and went around a few times with Scott. Zoe thought tantrums would be fun on the ice. She was able to make it around as long as she had the bar. She didn't want my help. All the kids want to go back today.

Downtown Dallas in the big crowd on NYE

I got to watch the game on the big screen outside the AA Center.

Too bad the Stars lost, but it was exciting to watch.

On NYD we got together with friends and family to play some soccer. I loved it. It was a great way to burn energy and stay warm. Thanks GG&G Gentry for the McDonald's money it helped us have a great snack after our soccer game.

Christmas Activities

Saturday we ventured out to the biggest Mall here and found some fun Christmas things to do. We got to tour a room full of trains. There are different scenes of the large US cities with trains going through them. We got to visit CA, NY and many other places all in one room. It was great.

We also had a visit with Scrooge. He tried to pick on Samantha, but she hid behind KC so he picked on KC. Call KC and ask him about it. I have it on video, but it is too large to post.

Dinner a different way. The kids got to put together their dinner and wrap it up to be cooked in the fire. We put in Potato's, carrots, onion, ground Turkey sausage and some seasonings. Some of us added pears to it. Zoe thought it was time to eat after we wrapped the food and was ready to say prayer. Not just yet it has to cook. We will have to see what they think of a foil dinner.

We did our annual visit to Santa's village on Saturday. The weather was perfect so we decided to go. We didn't get to visit all of the sites because everyone else had the same idea. We did get to see our favorites. The fire house, Frosty's house, the animal shelter and petting zoo, and the post office. Zoe sure loves her Grandma . Can you tell? They waited together while the rest of us stood in line.

The kids were outside playing and saw to jets crossing each other. They all ran into the garage and Sam came in the house yelling "MOM MOM MOM come here, you have to see this."

When I got there all I could see is the big X they made in the sky. What a scary thing for the kids to see. They fly so low because we are so close to the airport.

Cub Scouts

KC received his wolf badge this week. He also received the geology, marbles and chess belt loops and a gold arrow point. Good work KC!!!! We love cub scouts. the girls do flips when they realize it is Pack meeting.
